THE SWARM
by Frank Schatzing
Originally written in German, this book has made quite a stir in recent years. It is the story of several scientists who start seeing some interesting, and even scary, anomalies in the marine environment while some truly monumental events begin to occur. The book contains a fairly accurate description of the currently available technology used in deep sea exploration and it is chock full of great diving adventures. It also carries a greater message about our role and effect on the environment. Try to avoid reading this book while sitting on the beach.

It is full of wonderful pictures of nearly every common species and some not so common ones as well with descriptions of what we know. The book also includes some nice information about some of the habits and characteristics of selected animals that dispells some of the myths surrounding these amazing animals. A must read for divers and swimmers alike.
